Tiago Miguel de Carvalho Vicente was born in Lisbon in 1983. He started his musical studies at the age of six having studied with several teachers that helped in his early formative years.
At age 14 he entered the National Conservatory’s Music School where he pursued his guitar studies with Carlos Alberto Ramos Lopes. During this period his work was strongly recognised by the other guitar teachers of the institution.
In 2002 he enrolled at the Piaget Institute in the Guitar Degree, studying with Dejan Ivanovich. In this University he played in several chamber music groups directed by professors Filipe Pinto Ribeiro and Vasco Gouveia, performing with those same groups in a number of halls throughout the country, namely the Palácio Foz and Covento dos Capuchos.
In 2007 he finished his Teaching Degree having realized his Traineeship in that same year in Tomar at the Escola de Musica Canto Firme.
In 2008 he began his Master’s Degree in Guitar Interpretation at the Évora University also with Dejan Ivanovich, which he is currently concluding.
Alongside his academic studies he has performed in concerts, solo recitals, with orchestra and in several chamber music groups in prestigious concert halls.
In July 2009 Tiago Vicente was awarded second prize in the 6th Leiria International Guitar Competition, a competition integrated in the 27th Leiria Music Festival.
He has also participated in many masterclasses in international festivals. He has attended courses with guitarists such as Carlo Marchione, Marco Socias, Costas Cotsiolis, Darko Petrinjak, Joaquín Clerch, Michalis Kontaxakis, Alvaro Pierri, Serafín Arriaza, Hubert Kappel, etc.
He is also presently a guitar teacher at the Cascais Conservatory of Music and at the D.Bosco Musical Centre.
