Rita Machado

Rita was born in Lisbon in 1993 and began her musical studies in Academia de Música de Santa Cecília in Lisbon when she was 3 years old. She stayed there until her 18 years old when she finished the VIII degree of musicianship and trumpet. During this part of her musical journey, she joined several OML junior orchestra internships as well as trumpet masterclasses with Filipe Coelho, Nuno Silva and Jorge Almeida.
In 2012 she got in college – Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa – in Choral Conducting and Music Education that she finished in 2015. During her bachelor degree, she join Erasmus program on her 2nd year, 3rd semester (2013) in Hungary – Kodály Institute of the Lizst Ferenc Academy of Music. During her Bachelor, she had the opportunity to conduct “Coro de Repertório” da ESML under the supervision of Professor Vasco Pearce de Azevedo, teach in “Jardim de Infância nº1 de Benfica” supervised by Professor Cristina Brito da Cruz and finally, under the supervision of Professor Francisco Cardoso and Professor Ana Mafalda Pernão, teach Music Education in “Conservatório Nacional”.
Rita was in a week course in Kodály Institute with Dr. Laszlo Nemes in 2012 and another course in Estoril in 2013 called “Kodály Concept in Music Education”. She also participate in a singing masterclass with Joana Nascimento.
As a member of the Chamber Choir of ESML, she was a part of many projects with Gulbenkian Orchestra and with Blinket Orchestra and Wroclaw Philharmonic Choir in Ankara. She was a choir member in “Orpheu e Euridice” from Gluck production with Divino Sospiro Orchestra and Companhia Nacional de Bailado and also a choir member of “Ester” from António Leal Moreira in the Opera Studio of ESML that was presented in Teatro de São Luís. During this years, she worked with conducters like Krzysztof Urbanski, Pedro Neves, Işın Metin, Jan Wierzba, Massimo Mazzeo, Paulo Lourenço, among others. Also with the Chamber Choir of ESML, she had participated in three editions of Summer Choir Festival in Lisbon, CCB, where the choir won first prizes in
many categories in all editions. On that same festival, she worked with conducters Paulo Lourenço and Werner Pfaff with Filarmónica das Beiras Orchestra. In 2014, she joined Ensemble Vocal Desafinados.
In 2015/2016 she did a Diploma Couse in Kodály Music Education in Kodály Institute of Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music – Hungary. During this year, she was a founder member of a Female Ensemble and had many successful concerts of “Music Female Voices” in Budapest and Kecskemét. She had a scholarship from “Tempus Public Foundation”- Hungarian Scholarship.
She will continue her musical studies in Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, in Teaching Masters – Choral Conducting.
