Born in 1994, in Penacova, Pedro Martinho is a soloist at City Light Symphony Orchestra and, at the moment, he works frequently with Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música. As an invited performer, he has worked with Philharmonia Zürich (Zürich Opera Orchestra), Orquestra Gulbenkian, Orchestre de Paris, Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, Orchestra Leonore, and also, he has played “Konzertstück” Op. 2 de Franz Berwald, as a soloist with Orquestra Clássica do Centro. This allowed him to work with internationally renowned conductores such as Bernard Haitink, Hartmut Keil, Fabio Luisi, Colin Metters, Vasily Sinaisky, Allan Gilbert, Daniel Stabrawa, Toby Hoffman e Baldur Brönnimann, among others.
In 2015 and 2019, he was awarded the 1st place in the Wind Instruments International Competition “Terras de la Salette”; and in 2016, 3rd place in Prémio Jovens Músicos (no 1st place awarded).
He finished his Bachelor in Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espetáculo – ESMAE, in the class of the teacher Pedro Silva and, has finished his Masters in Performance – Classic and is currently doing his Masters in Music – Orchestra at ZHdK (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste) in the class of the teacher professor Giorgio Mandolesi. Pedro also had the opportunity of participate in Masterclasses with prestigious bassoon players such as Marco Postinghel, Stefano Canuti, Pierre Olivier Martens, Carlo Colombo e Georg Klütsch.
