Paulo Pacheco

Born in the Azores, Paulo Pacheco studied at the Music School of Ponta Delgada with António Teves. Completed his bachelor degree at the Superior School of Music of Lisbon, where he studied Piano with Miguel Henriques and Chamber Music with Olga Prats. In 2004, he obtains a Master’s degree in Music / Piano Performance at the University of North Texas, under the guidance of Vladimir Viardo. At the College of Music, completes the studies in the Chamber Music Center. Currently, he attends the Doctoral Program in Musical Arts at the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas / ESML.
In 1999, achieved the first prize in Chamber Music (Youth Musicians Prize) with the Baritone Rui Baeta.
He appeard in several music festivals: Toulouse, Vigo, Frankfurt, Estoril, Coimbra, Guimarães, Mafra and Azores and halls such as F.C. Gulbenkian Museum, S. Luíz Theater, Aula Magna, Culturgest, CCB and Casa da Música.
He performed solo with the following Orchestras: Orquestra Sinfónica Juvenil, Metropolitana de Lisboa, Nacional do Porto and Filarmonia das Beiras as well as in ensemble with Orchestrutópica, Matosinhos String Quartet, Algarve Orchestra, National Ballet Company, Ensemble XX/XXI and Ensemble Collegium Musicum Electroacustico.
He is the founder of the following chamber music groups:, Trio Max Bruch and Triunvirato. Since 2004, he formed a duo with the flutist Nuno Inácio.
Paulo Pacheco is a faculty member of Chamber Music at the Superior National Academy of Orchestra (Metropolitana) and Superior School of Music of Lisbon. He as guided chamber music masterclasses in Portugal, Italy, Ireland and Latvia. He is a member of the European Chamber Music Teachers Association.
