Marta Xavier

Portuguese artist, Marta Xavier has performed as a recitalist and chamber musician in Europe, the United States and China, and as a soloist with the CSU Symphony Orchestra and the Orquestra Académica Metropolitana. She is delighted to perform regularly with the Orquestra de Câmara de Cascais e Oeiras and the Orquestra Bomtempo for the coming season.
A curious mind, she seeks to be actively involved in artistic environments and has therefore attended the Verão Classical – Academia Internacional de Lisboa, Mendelssohn International Festival (Hamburg, Germany), CSUF Masterclass Series, Wind Symphony and New Music Ensemble (CA, USA), Festival Hill Summer Institute (TX, USA), Encontros Internacionais de Clarinete de Lisboa, Orquestra Académica Metropolitana and Orquestra Nacional de Sopros dos Templários (Portugal). Additionally, she has collaborated with conductors such as Mitchell Fennell, Michael Stern, Jean-Sébastien Béreau, Jean Marc Burfin and Cesário Costa, and with the pianists Mikhail Korzhev, Aniko Harangi and Anna Tomasik.
Xavier graduated from California State University Fullerton and Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra (Portugal), with a master’s degree in Music Performance and a bachelor’s in Orchestra Performance respectively. Of exceptional quality, her mentors were the Swedish internationally acclaimed clarinetist Håkan Rosengren and the Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa’s Principal Clarinet Nuno Silva.
