Marcos Lázaro

Born in Cascais. Marcos Lázaro began playing the violin at the age of seven with Marie Louise Fischer and Dov Bartov at the Grundmusikschule in Arlesheim Switzerland where he was awarded a 2º Prize for Young Musicians. In Basel he became a member of the Jugendsinfonie Orchester der Régio with Maestro Albert E. Kaiser; participating in many concerts throughout Switzerland Germany France Lichtenstein Italy and Austria.
In 1997 he returned to Portugal to continue his studies at the Professional Music School in Almada (EPMA) with Inês Barata on the violin and chamber music with Jan Schabowski. He participated in the 1st APROARTE National Orchestral Course in EUROPARQUE under Maestro Ernst Schelle.
He graduated from the Lisbon Music Conservatoire (ESML) under Katchatour Amirkhanian and later Aníbal Lima studying Chamber Music with Olga Prats and Irene Lima. He participated in various Master-Classes with Zakhar Bron, Orest Shourgot, Galina Turtchninanova, Stefan Kamilarov, Sergei Kravchenko, Boris Kuniev, and Jiri Tomasek among others.
Marcos Lázaro also participated in the courses held at the University of Aveiro for the interpretation of“ New Music” under the conductor Wolfgang Niessner.He participated in Chamber Music Courses with Vaclav Bernasek (Kocian Quartet) and Avidis Kouyoumdjian from the (Musikhochschule Vienna).
He collaborates on a regular basis with the Gulbenkian Foundation Symphony Orchestra, the Lisbon Symphonieta,“Pedro Àlvares Cabral”, Cascais-Oeiras (OCCO) and the City of Braga Chamber Orchestras. He has been invited on various occasions as concert-master with the Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa (O.C.P) ( Portuguese Chamber Orchestra) under the conductor Pedro Carneiro, and at “Ginásio Ópera” Orchestra, under the conductors Kodo Yamagishi and Jean Sébastien Béreau.
He colaborates regularly with Camerata Vianna da Motta, with artistic direction of Irene Lima.
Marcos taught was teaching Violin and Chamber Music at the Professional Arts School in Mirandela (EPAM) where, in 2005, had the oportunity to interpret the soloist role of the Tchaikovsky concert for violin in D- Major with EPAM’s Symphonic Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Pedro Neves. Marcos Lázaro also taught at Conservatório de Cascais.
He was the soloist of the New Year’s Concert in 2010, in Almada, where he played Piazzolla’s Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas (for violin and string orchestra), with Damas de S. Carlos string orchestra.
In May 2008, Marcos Lázaro became a member of the National Portuguese String Quartet “Quarteto Lacerda”, that was part of the “Haydn Project”, playing half of Haydn’s string quartets, by Antena 2 iniciative. Also, they have 2 recordings to be finished in 2010.
He is presently Violin Professor at the “ Instituto Gregoriano” in Lisbon
