Violinist by profession, Luís Leão began his musical studies at the age of 6 with Professor Jorge Alves. In 2005 he joined Escola Profissional de Música do Vale do Ave – ARTAVE in the class of professor António Soares, finishing the 12th grade in 2011 with a full mark in instrument. He continued his studies at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa with professors Alexandra Mendes and Tiago Neto, finishing his degree in Music, variant of Wind, Bow and Percussion Instruments in 2015. He attended masterclasses with professors such as Vítor Vieira, Alexei Mijlin, Gerardo Ribeiro, Jela Spitkova, Aníbal Lima and Joyce Tan, among others. He has collaborated with professional orchestras such as Orquestra do Norte, Orquestra do Algarve and Algarve Camerata, having worked with maestros such as Pedro Neves, Ernst Schelle, Colin Metters, Emilio de César, Joana Carneiro, Vasco Azevedo, Alberto Roque and António Saiote. He performed on solo several times, both with piano and with orchestra, and the most recent performance was performed in May 2017 in the city of Lagos where he performed the 2nd violin of the Concerto for 2 Violins in D Minor from J. S. Bach, with the violinist Ana Damil and accompanied by the Algarve Camerata. He also performed in chamber music at the Festival do Estoril in 2013 with a piano quartet. Between 2016 and 2017 he was teaching at Academia de Música de Lagos, Conservatório de Música de Portimão – Joly Braga Santos and Conservatório de Música de Lagoa. Currently he is getting his Master’s Degree in Music Teaching at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa and teaches at Conservatório de Música de Cascais, Orquestra Geração and Academia de Música da Graça.
