Ana Duarte

Ana Duarte Abrantes was born in Águeda in the year of 1986 and strated her musical studies with 10 years old at the Musical School of Banda Alvarense. At 1997 she joined the horn class of Conservatório de Música de Águeda, completing the 5th grade with the teacher J. Vidal Santos. At 2002 she joined Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho, where she finished the course of Orchestral Practise in the year of 2005 at the horn class of the teacher Abel Pereira. She is graduated in Orchestral Musician at Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra with the horn teacher Abel Pereira.
Participated in Horn masterclasses guided by teachers like: Abel Pereira, António Costa, J. Bernardo Silva, Hélder Vales, Paulo Guerreiro, Bohdan Sebestik, Hermann Baumann, Jonathan Luxton, Will Sanders, John Ryan, Froydis Ree Wekre and Radovan Vlatkovic.
Throughout her career she has worked with various orchestras like: Orquestra Clássica de Espinho, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Orquestra Clássica de Cascais e Oeiras (OCCO), Orquestra de Câmara Portuguesa (OCP), Orquestra Clássica do Sul, Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, Remix Ensemble Casa da Música, Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música and Orquestra Gulbenkian.
In 2007 won an honour mention in Prémio de Jovens Músicos, Portugal, in the category of higher level french horn.
In 2013 she played as soloist with Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras.
Currently teaches at Conservatório de Música de Águeda, Escola de Artes da Bairrada, at the vocational course of Conservatório de Música da Jobra, Conservatório de Música de Cascais e Oeiras and at Academia de Música de Oliveira de Azeméis, and is finishing the Masters in Teaching Music at Universidade de Aveiro with the horn teacher J. Bernardo Silva.
