Cascais and Oeiras Chamber Orchestra

Cascais and Oeiras Chamber Orchestra (OCCO) is a formation supported by the Municipalities of Cascais and Oeiras, and by the General Directorate of Arts / Ministry of Culture.
Considered by many to be one of the best training courses of its kind in Portugal, OCCO is currently a fundamental element of the cultural life of the Municipalities of Oeiras and Cascais.

With more than 120 shows a year, divided between symphonic concerts, chamber music recitals, educational concerts and animations, OCCO develops a periodic activity in both municipalities, having also been performing throughout the country and performing several presentations abroad.

Artistic Director

Nikolay Lalov

With an extensive artistic activity as a conductor, violinist and pedagogue, Nikolay Lalov stands out for his extensive experience in all areas where he works. Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, he began his violin studies at the age of six and completed the National Music School “L. Pipkov” with a gold medal, awarded for the excellent results obtained throughout his academic career. He graduated from the Bulgarian National Academy as a violinist and later completed the Orchestral Conducting course at the same institution. He was the youngest violin teacher to teach at the National School “L. Pipkov”, the prestigious school where he graduated.

Among the many soloists who have performed with OCCO stand out names such as Lídia Mordkovitch, Alberto Lysy, Paul Badura-Skoda, Márcio Carneiro, Darco Brlek, Maria Luísa Cortada and Michael Rische. Several national soloists performed with OCCO, including Ana Bela Chaves, Aníbal Lima, Irene Lima, Ana Mafalda Castro, Olga Prats, Miguel Henriques, Pedro Carneiro, Teresa Cardoso Menezes, Ana Paula Russo, Luís Rodrigues, Elvira Ferreira, Sandra Medeiros , Sónia Alcobaça, Lara Martins and many others.
